“I can’t help it if I make things look easy that some people think are difficult.”
At the crossroads of America’s pastime and eternal cool was Ken Griffey Jr., the “Kid” who took over baseball in one fell swing. As a 19-year-old turning pro in 1989, Junior smoked a double in his first big league at bat. A week later, in his first home game at the Kingdome in Seattle, he did one better. He smacked a home run. From that point on he never stopped rounding the bases, and with each trip the legend grew.
It wasn’t easy. The Kid just made it look that way. We’ve got a new Griffey stadium jacket throwing back to 1989, the year that Junior hit the scene!
