PINK FLOYD X AND ROOTS OF FIGHT
“Remember when you were young, you shone like the sun.
Shine on you crazy diamond…”
For over five decades, they’ve lived up to impossible billing. Visionary. Psychedelic. Conceptual. Transcendent. Bold. They are Pink Floyd, a band whose sound went where none had ever ventured before, including space. Pioneers of the rock revolution of the 1960s. Cinematic. Ambient. At times, desolate. Forever introspective and teeming with biting political and social commentary.
Yet always fearless. These songs spoke in ways that no other music could.
Pink Floyd emerged out of England in the mid-1960s, and through the decades have deepened into the greatest progressive rock band of all time. The live show? Otherworldly. Lasers. Quadrophonic sound. Flying pigs.
The prism by itself is now a famous symbol of its depths. A white beam dispersing into a spectrum of color. Pink Floyd’s music was very much like a piece of glass cut into precise angles, reflecting light. Nearly unclassifiable by defying most conventions, the band carried rock music into the darker corners of the human psyche and set the bar for generations of progressive artists to aspire. They began as a blues-inflected group which used the first names of Pink Anderson and Floyd Council to get their name, and ended up one of the most legendary rock groups of our lifetime.
And the song titles themselves shine on like crazy diamonds in the rock canon.
“Comfortably Numb.” “Money.” “Hey You.” “Time.” “Echoes.” “Wish Your Were Here.” "High Hopes." "Learning to Fly."
