The 1970s were like a disco ball spinning around flashing all kinds of interesting reflections — over-the-top fashion statements, sideburns, Frisbees, dune buggies, nunchucks, Farrah Fawsett, Saturday Night Fever, feathered hair, Trans-Ams, butterfly collars and out-sized belt buckles. It was a fun decade awash in sunlight, glowing marquees and vibrant colors.

And some of the most iconic figures in history began to redefine pop culture in the 1970s. Bruce Lee hit legendary status through his groundbreaking films in the early part of the decade, opening up the world’s imagination to martial arts. The founder of Jeet Kune Do was never anything other than “vintage cool,” going back to when he demonstrated the one-inch punch in the 1960s.

Meanwhile Muhammad Ali captivated the world at large through the boxing ring, where he won heavyweight titles and the hearts of millions with a series of classic fights — namely, the “Rumble in the Jungle” and the “Thrilla in Manila.” What would the world be like without Ali’s swagger and the everlasting cult of Bruce Lee?

Introducing our new colorful ’70s capsule, celebrating the greatness of Muhammad Ali and Bruce Lee, along with the decade they defined!
