Long before he became the heavyweight champion of the world and became the arch rival of Muhammad Ali, Joe Frazier was making history. In 1964, he filled in for the injured Buster Mathis to compete for a Gold Medal in Tokyo. In the semifinals, he broke his own thumb but willed himself to victory, putting aside the pain to bring home gold.
