August 28, 1977. Civic Stadium, in Portland Oregon. That was the day the great Pelé helped the New York Cosmos win a championship against Seattle. His final farewell came five weeks later, though, when the Cosmos hosted Santos — the team he legendized in Brasil — at Giants Stadium in front of 75,000 fans. It was a celebration of the greatest career in the history of sports.
