“[My service] is a duty I’ve got to fill, and I’m going to do it.”

At the very height of Elvis’s reign as the King of Rock & Roll, he was drafted into the United States Army. After training at Fort Hood he was assigned to Friedberg, Germany, at Ray Barracks, where he became part of the 1st Medium Tank Battalion, 32nd Armor, 3d Armored Division. It was the most famous military stint of all time.

There can only be one King. Yet the man who wore the crown did his duty.

Officially licensed by Elvis Presley.
