Sept. 23, 1952. Rocky Marciano — known as the “Brockton Blockbuster” — put on the greatest performance of his life by knocking out the great Jersey Joe Walcott in Philly to win the heavyweight title. Little did people know at the time, but he’d never relinquish it. By the time he retired in 1956, Marciano was considered the greatest heavyweight of all time.
It wasn’t just the heavyweight title. It was all the iconic titles that come with it. Undefeated. Unfazed. Unreal.
