“I’m just ’bout that action, boss.”
He wasn’t one for interviews. In fact, when Marshawn Lynch went “Beastmode,” it was to let his actions do his talking.
Flashback to Dec. 12, 2011. Trying to work through an upset stomach, Lynch zeroed in on taking it out on the Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday Night Football. To help him feel better, he was seen eating Skittles – or what his mother called “power pellets” when he was growing up – on the sidelines. He went out and rushed for a then-franchise high 148 yards and 2 touchdowns, including one of the most iconic runs of his career.
On that one, he ran into a pile of tacklers, looked to have been stopped, and then – somehow, with his legs still churning -- bounced free for a touchdown run. It was classic Beastmode.
What makes him an icon goes beyond his magical run in Seattle. His Fam 1st Family Foundation helped countless kids in the Oakland are that he grew up in, and for that he did have something to say. “I love kids, so anytime I have an opportunity to help a kid, I’m all for it.”
