It was located at 5555 McGraw Ave, within the bowels of the Motor City’s old Kronk Recreation Center, in a brick-stacked sweat box far from the public’s view. It was called the Kronk Gym. And it was a boxing herald for over 30 years between the late-1970s and the mid-2000s, right in the heart of Detroit. Legends toiled here. Champions were made.

And through those legendary doors lied the foundations of sacrifice and reward for so many of boxing’s greats: Pain and Fame.
