Elvis Presley’s Army years remembered

"The Army teaches boys to think like men.”

Imagine the sensation of the day. A few years after his smash hit single “Heartbreak Hotel,” Elvis went into the Army. From 1958-1960 he served as a member of two separate armed battalions, first at Fort Hood, and immediately after in Germany, with the 1st Medium Tank Battalion, 32nd Armor. With his global fame, people wondered if the King of Rock & Roll would receive special handling in the military. Elvis wouldn’t have that.

“The Army can do anything it wants with me,” he said. And he stuck by it. We have a vintage long-sleeve Elvis tee throwing back to the King’s service!
