Dr. J 1971 Tee

Long before he became a pioneer in the ABA and the NBA during the 1970s-80s, New York's Julius Erving began making a name for himself at the University of Massachusetts and at the famed playground to basketball's most revered names — at Rucker Park in Harlem. Back in 1971, he became the event at the Rucker. Erving was called everything from "The Claw" to "Black Moses," on that hallowed blacktop that saw the likes of Wilt Chamberlain and Connie Hawkins. It was also where the nickname "The Doctor" became synonymous with Erving. Dr. J honed a high-flying, above-the-rim style that would soon revolutionize the game.
